Which Cosmetic Concerns Can Be Treated with Botox®?

Ideal Candidates for Botox® Injections
Generally, most people are excellent candidates for Botox® injections at Rejuv Cosmetic Surgery & Med Spa, since the procedure is minimally invasive and very safe. If you’re in good overall health, are age 18 or older, and have realistic expectations, you’re most likely an excellent candidate.
People who are not good candidates for Botox® include patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding and patients who are allergic to the ingredients of Botox®. Additionally, patients with blood-clotting disorders or neuromuscular disorders like myasthenia gravis may not be ideal candidates.
If you have an active skin infection at or near the treatment area, you’ll need to fully treat it before coming in for Botox® injections. Patients on certain medications may need to change their dosage or completely stop taking them before their Botox® treatment; make sure to discuss this with your doctor.
If you have moderate or deep midface wrinkles, you’re a better candidate for fillers than for Botox® injections. Soft-tissue dermal fillers are designed to smooth away wrinkles like the nasolabial folds, parentheses lines, and marionette lines. What Should I Expect During a Botox® Treatment?
Here are the steps of a Botox® treatment session:
- The treatment areas are cleansed to remove skincare products and any dirt or debris.
- The specialist creates marks on the skin to serve as a guide for the Botox® injections.
- The specialist may apply a topical numbing cream to the targeted areas.
- Using an ultra-fine needle, the specialist injects a minor amount of Botox® into the targeted areas. Depending on the treatment area and patient preferences, about 4–10 injections may be administered.

Botox Recovery and Results
Following the treatment, you might experience mild redness, bruising, and/or swelling at the injection sites, which can be covered with makeup and should subside shortly. There’s no downtime or recovery time needed, allowing you to resume your daily activities immediately.
After the Botox® Cosmetic treatment session, it’ll be best to stay upright for around four hours. Do not touch the injection sites for one day, since pressure can result in product migration.
You’ll need to avoid performing physically taxing activities for one to two days. This includes heavy exercise and playing sports. Extreme heat exposure should also be avoided during this time.
Results from Botox® injections can be noticed in as little as 24–48 hours, as the facial muscles relax. In some cases, it may take up to seven days to see the full effects.
The results typically last up to four months or longer, depending on individual factors. As the effect wears off, you can receive additional Botox® treatments to maintain a firmer, smoother complexion and a more youthful appearance.
